A-Town Media's History

A-Town Media's roots began back in the early 1990's when Matt Gaughan began working with a Christian youth ministry in Atascadero, California called Action House. The ministry was focused on youth reaching youth through the arts. Matt was charged with developing the technology used in the ministry. One at a time he tackled sound, lights then video.

After working with Action House for a couple years Matt and his wife Stacey moved to Sacrament to work with a traveling youth ministry. Again, Matt was in charge of the sound, lights and video for this media driven, traveling convention.

While touring Matt realized how much he had learned over the years and how much that knowledge could benefit others. That is when Matt started consulting with churches.

Four years of touring was enough so Matt and Stacey moved back home to Atascadero where Matt continued the computer and network administration business he operated before moving to Sacramento and worked part time at Atascadero Bible Church overseeing their media ministry.

Finally in 2004 Matt focused his attention on professional audio, video and lighting services. In 2005 he teamed with David Pehrson and expanded the business from consulting to equipment sales and integration. They also began offering control solutions making them the only in house, professional audio, video, lighting and control system provider in the county.  In 2007 Matt began doing formal AV design and in 2008 became CTS certified by INFOCOMM and began the design specialty track.
